Dear Friends,
Greetings to you in the precious name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. It’s the end of the year and we are entering Christmas season. A season of Joy and Happiness. A time of a lot of activity in the church. All the wings of the church would like to put up a programme on stage so that the whole congregation enjoys this Christmas season. Every year we have added a new wing of the church in our Christmas programme and this year we have added into our programme a new wing which is the Medical wing in our Christmas programme. All the medical professionals in the church join together to form this wing. We look forward for a good programme from this wing as the other wings had done in the previous years.
Christmas season we remember about Mary and the angel Gabriel, about the dangerous journey to Bethlehem, about Caesar’s decree, about Herod’s insane jealousy, about the inn with a “No Vacancy” sign, about the angels and the shepherds, and about the mysterious Wise Men from the east, and the last-second flight into Egypt. All of these stories are so well known to all of us. Many a times these names or incidences tell us the whole story of Christmas. Although repeated, it has its own meaning.
If you read with me the book of Hebrews chapter 1 and verses one through three, you will be able understand who this Jesus who came to this world in the form of a human person. This is what the book of Hebrews say about Jesus:He is the Heir of All Things. He is the Creator of the Universe. He is the Radiance of God’s Glory. “Through whom he made the universe” (Hebrews 1:2).“The Son is the radiance of God’s glory” (Hebrews 1:3). He is the Exact Representation of God’sNature.“The exact representation of his being” (Hebrews 1:3). He is the Sustainer of All Things. “Sustaining all things by his powerful word” (Hebrews 1:3). He is our Savior. “After he had provided purification for sins” (Hebrews 1:3) He is now seated at God’s Right Hand. “He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven” (Hebrews 1:3). The Heir of All Things.
That’s who Jesus is. That’s the One whose birth we celebrate at Christmas. This is the true identity of the baby born to Mary that night in Bethlehem 2000 years ago. In the modern parlance this is what Jesus means:
But who is Jesus to you? Do you know him? Do you know this Jesus? Is he your Savior?
I Join with the pastorate committee and the congregation in wishing you a Christ centred Christmas so that you will enjoy every programme during this Christmas.
with kindest regards,
Yours in His ministry,
Rev. P. K. Samuel
